Everyone makes a list of goals or accomplishments they want to achieve in their life. I feel like I have accomplished (not always successfully, mind you) all those major life goals relating to education, marriage, and having children. So, here is my list of things I want to do with my life apart from those big three.
Concerts To See
• Grateful Dead (saw them on 17 July 1994 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC)
• Sinead O’Connor in Ireland
• R.E.M.
• Bruce Springsteen
• U2
• Rolling Stones (saw them on 03 August 1994 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC; It was the second night of their Voodoo Lounge tour.)
• David Gray in Ireland
• Academy of St. Martin’s in the Field in England
• Iceland Airwaves Music Festival (October’s in Reykjavik)
Everyday Activities
• Subscribe to the Sunday New York Times
• Get a print subscription to The Economist
• Buy and wear overalls on a semi-regular basis
• Have a job where I can wear Hawai’ian shirts all Summer long (I’ve been lucky to have just such a job for most of my adult life.)
Musical Activities
• Learn to play the saxophone
• Learn to play the bongos or some other kind of small hand-drum
Places To Visit—North America
• Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada
• Travel through the Rocky Mountains
• See the aurora borealis (northern lights) from the Arctic Circle
• Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Labrador (I went to Nova Scotia on the honeymoon with my now ex-wife but would love to go back there again.)
• Mt. Rushmore (Keystone, SD)
• Crazy Horse Memorial (Black Hills, SD)
• Corn Palace (Mitchell, SD)

• Roden Crater (Flagstaff, AZ)
• National Museum of Funeral History (Houston, TX)
Places To Visit—Overseas
• Go to Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic
• Stay in a yurt in Mongolia
• See Petra in Jordan on horse-back
• Go to Iceland in Winter and swim in the Blue Lagoon (done in January 2009)
• Go to Scandinavia and Finland
• Go to VietNam
• Do some eco-tourism in Belize and Costa Rica
• Go to Tanzania and climb Kilimanjaro for my 40th birthday
• Go on pilgrimage to Canterbury
• Visit the ruins of Carthage in Tunisia
• Take an eco-tour of the Galapagos Islands

• Stand on the beach in St. Maarten and watch a 747 land at Princess Juliana Airport (SXM)
1. I, too, want to see Banff.
2. The Crazy Horse memorial, sadly, didn’t live up to my expectations (shouldn’t they be done with it by now?), but it’s 30 mins from Mt. Rushmore so you might as well go.
3. My Mom went to Mongolia, stayed in a yurt, the whole nine yards.
May I suggest the South Dakota Badlands?
