Froth, Spittle, and Bluster

Sailing

I got into sailing when I was in my mid 20s. I went sailing with a guy I worked with and had a blast. Later on when I got married my then-wife and I bought a 26′ Columbia Mark II and lived on it for almost a year (June 2001 – February 2002). Although we only sailed on it a couple times before setting up house on it; Once it was at the dock and we became full-time liveaboards taking it out became a pain. But I would continue to sail with my buddy Eric. We sail on the Chesapeake and even though we’ve never been too far from land, it can get pretty hairy out there when a storm blows in.

My now ex-wife got the Columbia and continued to live on it for another year before selling it. I still get out occassionally with my buddy Eric but he hasn’t sailed much in the past two years and I no longer live in the DC area so getting together for a trip is harder now. But, buying my own sailboat is still one of my “someday” plans. It might have to wait until I retire but I love being on the water so it’s really a question of when, not if, I get another boat. Below are pics of that original Columbia and from various jaunts on the Chesapeake with Eric.
